“Remembrance as duty”

Anna Kaminsky is Director of the Federal Foundation for the Study of Communist Dictatorship. In this interview she talks about chances and challenges concerning European commemoration in 2014.

After having gained her doctorate in 1993, Anna Kaminsky worked in various research and exhibition projects at the University of Münster, the Memorial and Museum Sachsenhausen and the German Historical Museum amongst others. She conducted research in the fields of daily life and consumer culture in the GDR as well as in the area of remembrance in a national and transnational perspective.
